Preparation Time – 20 Minutes
Cooking Time – 15 Minutes
Serves – 4

Ingredients:

Butter lettuce leaves – 16
Chicken mince – 1 pound
White Onion – 1 large sized (chopped)
Garlic – 2 cloves (minced)
Water chestnuts – 1 can
Green onions – 1 bunch (chopped)
Ginger – 2 tablespoons (grated)
Vegetable oil – 1 tablespoon
Hoisin sauce – ¼ cup
Soy sauce – 1 tablespoon
Rice wine vinegar – 1 tablespoon
Chili pepper sauce – 1 dash
Sesame oil – 2 teaspoons

Method Of Preparation:

Step 1

Wash the fresh lettuce leaves and dry them. Be careful not to tear the leaves.

Step 2

Heat a large sized skillet and pour the vegetable oil into it. Cook the chicken in the skillet and empty it into a bowl. Add a little sesame oil to the skillet and stir in the onions. Once the onions turn golden brown, add the garlic, ginger, soy sauce, chili pepper sauce, vinegar and hoisin sauce. Add chestnuts, green onions, and the chicken and cook for 5 minutes.

Step 3

Empty the chicken mixture on a large plate and arrange the lettuce leaves about the edges of the same plate so that wraps can be made using these.

2. Vegetarian Lettuce Wraps:

A meatless lettuce wrap is equally good and tasty as the meat lettuce wraps. The combination of pan-fried tofu, delicious mushroom and rich flavors will make you drool. Furthermore, it is a healthy, high protein, low calorie recipe. So enjoy eating as many as you want.

Preparation Time – 15 Minutes
Cooking Time – 15 Minutes
Serves – 4

Ingredients:

Butter lettuce leaves – 8
Tofu – 1 package
Cremini mushrooms – 8 ounce (chopped)
Water chestnut – 1 can
Garlic – 2 cloves (minced)
Ginger – 2 teaspoons (grated)
Red pepper flakes – ¼ teaspoon
Green onions – 4 (sliced)
Hoisin sauce – 3 tablespoon
Soy sauce – 3 tablespoon
Rice vinegar – 2 tablespoon
Sesame oil – 1 tablespoon
Canola oil – 2 teaspoon

Method Of Preparation:

Step 1

Mix up all the sauces and sesame oil in a bowl and keep it aside.

Step 2

Squeeze out the liquid out of the tofu by pressing it between paper towels. Heat canola oil in a large pan, add the tofu when the oil gets hot and break it into small pieces as it gets cooked. Cook for 5 more minutes and stir in the mushrooms. When tofu starts turning golden brown, add water chestnuts, ginger, garlic, pepper flakes, and three-fourth of the green onion. Cook the ingredients for 1 minute and empty the sauce mixture over the top. Cook for 1 minute.

Step 3

Empty the tofu mixture on a large sized plate and sprinkle the remaining green onions over the top. Arrange the lettuce leaves around the edges of the plate so that wraps can be made easily.

3. Turnip Lettuce Wraps:

These crunchy wraps are not only tasty, but healthy too.

Preparation Time – 5 Minutes
Cooking Time – 10 Minutes
Serves – 12

Ingredients:

Grapeseed oil – 2 – 3 tbsp
Chopped ginger – 1 – 2 tbsp
Sliced onion – ½ cup
Cumin Seeds – 1 Tbsp
Mustard Seeds (brown) – 1 Tsp
Dried Curry Leaves – ¼ Cup
Salt and Pepper
Peeled and Grated Turnip – ½
Finely Chopped Green Onions – 2

Method Of Preparation:

Step 1

Heat oil in a skillet and add onions and ginger. Stir for 2 – 3 minutes and then add other spices, pepper and salt. Add grated turnip along with green onions. Stir fry on low heat for about 30 seconds.

Step 2

Clean the lettuce leaves and separate them. Place turnip mixture (1/2 cup) on the leaf and wrap it.

4. Firecracker Lettuce Wraps:

Cooking Time – 10 Minutes

Ingredients:

Ground Chicken – 450 g
Vegetable Oil – 1 Tbsp
Lime Juice – 2 – 3 Tbsp
Thai Noodles (Sweet Chili) – 1 Package
Boston lettuce leaves – 8
Chopped Peanuts – ¼ Cup
Chopped Fresh Cilantro – 3 Tbsp

Method Of Preparation:

Step 1

Heat oil in a large skillet and add seasoned chicken. Stir frequently until it is cooked thoroughly for about 6 minutes. Add lime juice after you remove it from heat.

Step 2

Meanwhile prepare the noodles as per the directions given on the package

Step 3

Combine hot noodles and cooked chicken together. Fill the lettuce leaves with this mixture. Garnish with cilantro and peanuts.

5. Barbecued Chicken Lettuce Wraps:

Ingredients:

Shitake Mushrooms – 2 cups
Chicken breasts – 11/2 pounds
Vegetable Oil – 2 Tbsp
Black Pepper and Salt
Garlic – 3 cloves
Ginger root – 1 inch
Zest of one Orange
Diced Red Bell Pepper – ½
Sliced Water Chestnuts – 1 Small Tin
Chopped 3 Scallions
Hoisin Sauce – 3 Tbsp
Iceberg Lettuce – ½ large head
Navel Orange – 1 (Cut into Wedges)

Method of Preparation:

Step 1

Heat Oil in a skillet and add in chicken and fry for a minute. Add mushroom and cook for another one minute. Season with salt and pepper and add ginger and garlic. Fry for another minute and add in orange zest, bell pepper, chestnuts and scallions. Continue stirring the mixture. Add in hoisin sauce. Toss until all the ingredients are evenly coated.

Step 2

Pile spoonfuls of this barbecued chicken on the lettuce leaves and serve with orange wedges.
