5 Diet, Baked Chips Recipe

Chips are lovely treats that satisfy hunger instantly and also serve as a time fillers between meals. But the store bought chips are loaded with calories and sodium, not to mention the artificial preservatives. They serve no nutrition and is actually detrimental to health. Believe it or not, it’s actually very easy to prepare chips at the comfort of your home if you have a microwave with convection or an OTG.

All These Chips Require Very Less Preparation And Are Really Easy To Make:

1. Beetroot Chips: 

Ingredients:

Beetroot: 2 Large

Salt: to taste

Pepper: to taste

Lemon juice: 4 tbsp

Method:

Wash n peel the beetroot into thin slices. It’s preferable to use a vegetable slicer for the slicing, if you have it at home. Put the slices in a wide plate and add lemon juice to it. Mix the beets with the lemon juice with the help of two ladles or your hands. now sprinkle the salt and pepper and mix. Set it aside. Take a wide baking tray and line it with baking sheet. You can use an aluminium foil too, but use it only for baking and not for microwave. Arrange the beets in lines and then bake it for 25 minutes at 160 degrees C. Keep checking the chips to see if they are done. The end result will be crispy,  tasty chips.

Beetroot Chips

2. Sweet Potato Chips:

Ingredients:

Sweet Potato: 2 large

Refined flour: 2 tbsp

Corn flour: 1 tbsp

Salt: To taste

Pepper: To taste

Cinnamon powder: 1 tsp

Method:

Peel the sweet potato and slice it into thin slices with the use of a slicer. If the sweet potato is very mushy, use knife n slice. But choose the hard ones to begin with so that they get sliced properly. Put the slices in a wide tray and sprinkle the Refined flour and corn flour to it. Coat each slice with little amount of flour to dry them. Add salt and pepper to it and mix. Line the prepared slices in a baking tray lined with baking sheet. Sprinkle some cinnamon powder over the slices and then bake them for around 20 minutes in 160 degrees C. Keep checking the slices to see whether they are done.

Sweet Potato Chips

3. Kale/ Spinach Chips:

Ingredients:

Kale leaves or Spinach leaves: 20 nos.

Lemon juice: 4 tbsp

Salt: to taste

Method:

Wash the leaves thoroughly and dry them off. Sprinkle the lemon juice and set aside. Line the baking tray with baking sheet and arrange the leaves on the tray. Sprinkle salt as needed. Bake the leaves at around 160 degrees Celsius for 10 minutes. Leaves cook early. So keep checking them and bake accordingly.

Kale, Spinach Chips

4. Apple Chips:

Ingredients:

Apples Large: 2 nos.

Powdered sugar: 2 tbsp.

Cinnamon: 2 tsp

Method:

Prepare the baking tray, lined with baking sheet before slicing the apples. Wash the apples and peel the skin. Hull the center and seeds. Now slice the apples in thin discs. Add powdered sugar in some water and mix cinnamon to it. Take a soft brush and brush the slices with this mixture. Arrange the slices on the baking tray and bake it for 20 minutes for 160 degrees C.

Apple Chips

5. Purple Yam/Kand Chips:

Ingredients:

Purple yam: 1 small

Corn flour: 2 tbsp

Salt: to taste

Pepper: to taste

Method:

Wash the Yam and peel it with help of knife. Be careful while peeling as the surfaces are not even. Cut it in smaller pieces and slice the pieces in small discs. Sprinkle the corn flour to it and mix it to coat the slice. Add salt and pepper. Prepare the baking tray with baking sheet and arrange the slices. Bake at 160 degrees C for 15 minutes.
