Bourbon Chicken Recipe

Whenever we, are served some famous dish or some delicious item, all of us become more and more willing to know more about it. Well, same will happen to you when you eat bourbon chicken. Although, no such ingredient named as bourbon exist, but the dish got its name from the street, named as bourbon street where a Chinese cook who used to cook chicken. It is perhaps the miracle of his cooked recipe that today it has become so famous in other parts of the world also. Who doesn’t like chicken and if the chicken is delicious enough to make you lick your fingers then the recipe is worth sharing. Therefore, no longer, need you to wait for some else to cook when you can cook it on your own.

Following Is The Recipe Of The Famous Bourbon Chicken:

Bourbon Chicken

Preparation Time: 15 Minutes
Cooking Time : 45 Minutes

4 teaspoon of olive oil
3 pound of skinless, boneless chicken breast halves that are cut into ½
1 cup of water
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1/4 cup apple-grape-cherry juice
2/3 cup of soy sauce
¼ cup of ketchup
¼ cup of peach flavored bourbon liqueur
2 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar
2 cloves garlic in minced form
1 teaspoon of dried minced onion
¾ teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes, or to taste
½ teaspoon of ground ginger
2 teaspoon of cornstarch


Step 1

Take a large and heavy pan and heat the olive oil in the mentioned amount in the pan. Brown the chicken pieces until they become lightly golden on all the sides. Make sure that you do not stretch he time more than 10 minutes. Take out all the chicken pieces in another bowl.

Step 2

Whisk water, brown sugar, ¾ cup of fruit juice cocktail, bourbon liqueur, soy sauce, ketchup, dried onion, garlic, apple cider vinegar, ground ginger and red pepper flakes in the same pan. Keep on stirring while cooking and cook until the sauce starts boiling. Scrape the brown bits of food with wooden stick.

Step 3

Put the fried chicken pieces back into the pan and mix properly from al the sides into the sauce. Bring it to full boil over medium to high heat. Once it starts boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low. Let it simmer until the sauce is reduces in amount and has also become thick. The time taken in this step should not extend more than 20 minutes. Wait till the chicken pieces remain no longer pink in the middle.

Step 4

Again remove the chicken pieces from the pan to the bowl. In another bowl, stir 2/4 cup of fruit juice cocktail together with cornstarch until it becomes smooth. Whisk the cornstarch mixture into the pan containing the remaining sauce. Keep on stirring to avoid making lumps. Again, simmer the sauce on low heat. Keep it simmering until it thickens the sauce in the pan. Once it becomes thick, transfer the chicken pieces back to the pan containing the thickened sauce now. Stir well to properly mix in all the chicken pieces.

Step 5

In the last step, remove the chicken pieces again but this time to serve them in the plate. Keep the pieces in the plate and add in some of the sauce remaining in the pan. Garnish from above with your favorite ingredient like cardamom. Your bourbon chicken recipe is finally ready. Eat it with rice to enjoy the best taste in the world.
