It is made from milk and there cannot be anything healthier than yummy cheddar cheese. However you do need to limit your intake of cheese for a healthy eating lifestyle. The recipe we have for you today is called Broccoli Cheddar Pockets. This is a lovely recipe for those who are vegan and love cheese and broccoli. Who knew something so healthy can be super tasty? Here Is The Recipe Of Broccoli Cheddar Pockets:
Preparation Time: 20 Minutes
Cooking Time: 15 Minutes
Chopped broccoli – 2 cups
Cheddar cheese (grated) – 1 3/4 cups
Sour cream – 3 tbsp
Fresh chives (chopped) – 2 tbsp>
All purpose flour – for dusting
French bread dough – 1 (11 ounces tube)
Egg – 1
For The Jalapeno Hot Sauce –
Vegetable oil – 1 tsp
Sliced jalapeno pepper – 20
Minced garlic clove – 3
Minced onion – 1/2 cup
Salt – 3/4 tsp
Water – 2 cups
Distilled white vinegar – 1 cup
Method Of Preparation:
Firstly you need to boil some salted water in a saucepan. Add the chopped broccoli florets in the boiling water and cook it for 1 minute. Do not cook it for long else it will lose all its goodness. Drain the water and rinse the broccoli with cold water. Let it cool. Mix the cheddar cheese, broccoli, chives and sour cream in a bowl. Combine the ingredients. Squeeze this mix together using your hands. You need to make it a little compact.
Now preheat your oven to a temperature of 425 degrees F. Brush the baking sheet with the vegetable oil. Now on a surface which is floured, roll the dough and fill out the dinner pockets. Look at the step by step instructions for the dinner pockets.
Now place the dinner pockets down – the seam should be downwards on the baking sheet. Beat the large egg and a little water in a bowl. Use 1 tsp of water. Brush the dinner pockets with the prepared egg wash. Bake it till it is golden brown. This should take about 15 minutes. Your dish is ready to serve! Serve this dish with a jalapeno hot sauce. You can just heat a glass sauce pan and combine jalapeno peppers, garlic, oil, onion and salt. Saute it for 2 minutes. Add some water and cook it for about 15 minutes. Remove it from heat and let it cool. Transfer this mix to a processor and blend it till you get a smooth mix. Now add some vinegar. You can store this sauce for long. It goes really well with the broccoli cheese pockets.
