Delectable Meringue Kisses

Meringue kisses are handy dessert toppers that are actually tasty treats to have, even by themselves. You can make them in various colors and you can decorate it on top of cakes, brownies, thick shakes or you can have it all by yourself. It’s a colorful party addition to any sort of dessert. They are a treat to the eyes. It requires least amount of ingredients but it requires a stand mixer for best results.  If you have a hand mixer, try a smaller batch to see the results. Timing is of great importance here so make sure you allot around an hour to make this delectable treat.

Delectable Meringue Kisses

Preparation Time: 25 Minutes
Cooking Time : 30 Minutes
Serves:  30


Castor sugar: 1 cup
Egg whites:  half cup
Food gel colors( optional): 1 tsp


Step 1:

Preheat the oven at around 180 degrees and bake the castor sugar for around 10 minutes. Heated sugar gives out a good finish to the meringues. When the sugar is in the oven, Take the egg whites in the stand mixing bowl and whisk the egg whites well. It should form stiff peaks. That will take around same time as the sugar getting heated.

Step 2:

When the stiff peaks are formed, take out the sugar and add it to the egg white mix in small batches and keep whisking it away. Once that is done, you can add the gel color of your choice and whisk it a little more. There is no such thing as over whisking this mixture, so don’t worry. If you want multi-colored meringues, you can divide the mix in 2-3 batches and then add different gel colors.

Step 3:

Once the whisking is done, take a piping bag and fill in the mix. If you don’t have the piping bag, you can make one by curving a plastic square piece into a cone and cutting the tip off. If you want multi-colors in the same meringue, spoon the different mixes in same piping bag, side by side.

Step 4:

Line the baking tray and press the mix gently out of the bag and extending the tip as you take away the bag. Bake these meringues at around 120 degrees for around 20 minutes. Do take care to check on them as every oven is different. Your delectable meringues are ready to serve.
