Ingredients For The Italian Egg Rolls
Chinese cabbage – 1
Celery – 2 stalks
Italian sausage – 500 grams
Bamboo shoots – 1/3 cup
Water chestnuts – 10
Salt – 1 tsp
Egg – 1
Sugar – 1 tsp
Pepper – 1 tsp
Garlic powder – 1/2 tsp
Soy sauce – 1/2 tsp
Oil – 2 cup
Spring roll wrappers – 10
Parmesan cheese – 1/2 cup
Mozarella cheese – 2 cups
Ingredients For Marinara Dipping
Basil – 1/2 tsp
Oregano – 2 tsp
Extra virgin olive oil -1/4 cup
Parsley – 1 tbsp
Tomato – 3 big
Garlic powder – 1 tsp
salt – 1/2 tsp
Pepper – 1/2 tsp
Water – 1/2 cup
Step By Step Instructions
Take cabbage and celery and boil it until very tender. Drain and squeeze out excess water. Chop the drained cabbage and celery into small pieces. Set this aside.
In a saucepan cook and crumble the italian Sausage. Add chopped cabbage and celery to the pan and saute it for a minute, shred bamboo shoots and water chestnuts and add it to the pan. Now add soy sauce and stir for a minute and add all the seasoning ingredients
Salt, Black pepper, garlic powder and mix. When it is done remove from the heat. Add in lots of both parmesan and mozarella cheese to it to make it yummy and tastier.
Take spring roll wrapper or egg roll skins one by one and place on a plate diagonally so it’s a diamond. With a spoon take about one big heap of the cabbage sausage mixture and put it into the centre of the roll. Beat the egg and dip the finger into the egg and apply a coat on the edges of the wrapper. Fold the sides and the bottom and then tightly roll the egg roll towards the unfolded corner. Seal the edges of the roll with the beaten egg. Set all the wrapped rolls aside.
Heat the oil in wok or deep fat fryer to 360 degrees and drop in the wrapped egg rolls. When skin turns light golden brown, remove from oil and drain the excess oil
with the help of tissue paper. You can refrigerate it until cool and cook again in oil until it is golden brown. This double frying method is to ensure that the filling is moist and it is not overcooked and will remain crisp outside . Tasty, Crispy Italian egg roll is ready to serve.
Instruction For Marinara Dipping
Take tomatoes and boil it and make a puree by blending it. Heat a saucepan and add the prepared tomato paste, water and olive oil and heat it in a medium-low heat. Boil it for about one minute stirring frequently with the help of spatula until all the ingredients are incorporated.
Add Salt and Black pepper according to your taste and nicely give a stir until incorporated. Then add Garlic powder, Oregano, Basil and stir the ingredients in a low heat. Cover the pan and let the sauce simmer for about 5 to 7 minutes. Add 3/4 th of parsley and cook for another 1 minute. Your marinara dipping is ready. You can add little water and stir if you feel it is too thick. Garnish with the remaining 1/4th of parsley and serve with the prepared Italian Eggrolls.
