Here Is The Recipe For Slow Cooker Carnitas:
Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 6 hours
Pork roast – 4 pounds (butt)
Bacon grease – 2 tbsp
Chopped onion – 1 large
Garlic cloves smashed – 5 cloves
Orange juice – 1 cup
Liquid smoke – 2 tsp
Sea salt – 1 tsp
Cumin – 1 tbsp
Ancho chile powder – 2 tbsp
Ground black pepper – 1 tsp
Method Of Preparation:
Take a slow cooker and smear bacon grease at the bottom. Cut the pork butt into large pieces and place it inside your slow cooker.
Now add the garlic, cumin, onion, orange juice, salt, ancho chile and pepper in the cooker. This will seep into the pork and add such delicious flavor.
Turn on the slow cooker and keep it on high for about 5-6 hours. Use a fork to check whether the pork is tender or not. Shred the pork meat into juices in the cooker. You want the pork to get nicely shredded.
If you would like your carnitas to be crispy, you can spread the meat on baking sheet and broil it for 3 minutes. Keep a watch so that you do not burn the carnitas. You just need to crisp the edges.
Serve the carnitas over a tortilla, rice or you can use it on a salad too! Your dish is ready to eat.
You can get ready made tortillas from the store which you would only need to heat. Place the carnitas in the center and then place some thinly sliced cabbage and salsa. Perfection! We absolutely love this dish when we put it on a tortilla. The Carnitas Taco is simply amazing.
