Here Are The Delightful Shrimp Fra Diavolo Recipe
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Extra large shrimp, peeled and deveined – 1 pound (about 20)
Red chili flakes – 1 teaspoon
Salt – to taste
Aleppo Pepper Flakes – 1 pinch
Yellow Onion, sliced – ½
Garlic, minced – 3 cloves
Dried oregano – ½ teaspoon
White wine – 1 cup
Canned crushed tomatoes – 1½ cups
Flat-leaf parsley, chopped – 2 tablespoons
Fresh Basil leaves, sliced – 2 tablespoons
Mix together the red chili flakes, salt, Aleppo pepper flakes and olive oil together in a large bowl. Add the shrimp to the bowl and toss in the mixture well so that they are well coated with the spices and oil.
Heat up a large skillet on high heat till it becomes really hot. Place the shrimps in a single layer on the bottom of the skillet and cook for 2 minutes or till they become browned on one of the sides. Now turn all of them around one by one and continue cooking till they are browned on the other side as well. This should take about 1 minute. Transfer them to a bowl and keep aside.
Heat up the same skillet again on medium heat and cook the onions along with salt till they turn translucent and become golden brown in color. This should take about 3-4 minutes.
Add oregano and garlic to the browned onions and continue cooking for another 20-30 seconds till the mixture turns fragrant.
Add white wine to the mixture and let it come to a boil. Continue scraping the browned pieces stuck to the pan and slowly add in the crushed tomatoes. Reduce the heat to low and cook till the tomatoes become soft and the mixture becomes thick. This should take about 8-10 minutes.
Add the cooked shrimp to the skillet again along with any juices that might have accumulated in the bowl. Cook for another 2-3 minutes and add basil and parsley into the salt. Adjust the seasoning with salt, pepper flakes and red chili flakes and serve hot.
