Hash Brown Casserole Recipe

Coming in three layers, the hash brown casserole is another delectable dish. Although you may cook it anytime but the best is to serve at breakfast. The main portion of the recipe is the cubanelles which brings mild heat to the entire recipe.

Ingredients:

Unsalted butter : 2 teaspoon
Whole milk : ½ cup
Low sodium chicken broth – ¾ cup
All-purpose flour : 3 teaspoon
Salt (course)
Pepper (freshly grounded)
Extra virgin olive oil – 1 teaspoon
Sweet Italian sausage that is cut into ¼ inch coin – 1 pound
White-wine vinegar – ¼ cups
Thinly sliced cubanelles pepper – 3
Russet potato, peeled and shredded – 2 pounds
Chopped scallions – 6
Shredded cheddar – 3 ounces

Step 1:

For Preparing The Sauce

Set the oven on 350 degree from before. Place a saucepan on medium-high heat and melt butter into the saucepan. Add flour, whisk and cook while whisking it. Perform this for 1 minute. Slowly add broth and milk and whisk again. Keep placing on the heat until it starts boiling while whisking at the same time. Finally remove from the heat and season the mixture with salt and pepper.

Step 2:

Place another skillet on medium- high heat and add sausage into it. Cook for about 2 minutes or until it turns brown. Transfer the cooked sausage into a 9-13 inch baking dish. Scatter the sausage evenly.

Step 3:

Now reduce the heat and adjust on medium setting. Place a skillet into heat and add cubanelles pepper and salt. Cook until it turns brown and slightly soft. This might take about 7 minutes. Add vinegar and cook for extra 30 seconds. Remove from the heat and scatter evenly on top of the sausage in the baking dish with the help of a spoon.

Step 4:

Take a bowl and add cheese, scallions, potatoes and sauce (prepared in step 1). Stir to mix properly and scatter in the form of an even third layer on top of the baking dish. Cover the dish with the help of a parchment lined foil.

Step 5:

Transfer into the oven for the next 40 minutes. In the last step, uncover the mixture and turn to broil. Cook the recipe until the top is browned for about 8 minutes. Finally serve your friend and family when it is still warm.
