Healthy Green Hummus Recipe

We are all fond of this Middle Eastern dip as it is a healthy alternative to all those rich and cheesy dips/ spreads. But having the regular chick pea hummus could become monotonous and a little experiment hurt no one! Here is a very simple recipe of hummus made with green peas and green olives that will tangle your senses. There is absolutely no cooking involved if you have store bought Tahini paste.

Green Hummus Recipe

Serves: 6
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 05 minutes


Tahini paste – 2 tbsp
Green peas- 1 cup
Green pitted olives- ½ cup
Olive oil- ½ cup
Smashed garlic- 1 tbsp
Peeled pistachios- 1 and a ½ tbsp
American mustard sauce – 1 tsp
Lemon juice- 1/2 tsp
Green chilly- 1
Black pepper powder- ½ tsp
Salt- According to taste

Method Of Preparation:

Step 1

The method just has one step. All you have to do is blend all of the above ingredients together in a blender jar and voila! Your green creamy hummus is ready.

Step 2

Serve this hummus with pita bread, flat bread, or finger salads (radish/ carrots/ cucumbers).You could also use it as spread on tortilla rolls or shwarma rolls.

Method For Tahini Paste:

If Tahini paste is not available in the market then don’t let that stop you from making hummus. It is very easy to make and actually tastes better than the store bought ones. It is the most important ingredient in making any kind of hummus.

To make about 3/4th cup of Tahini paste, dry roast 1 cup of white sesame seeds on a pan until they become golden brown. Let them cool down. Once completely cooled, blend them in the mixer starting with 3 table spoons of olive oil. Continue adding more oil and scraping the paste till the desired ‘pour-able paste’ consistency is reached. This paste can be stored in an air tight jar in the refrigerator and can go on for several months.
