Homemade Wraps From Scratch

Wraps are really pleasant comfort food. Its all-in-one meal and pretty delicious too. The best part about wraps is that you can add every type of filling and yet it can end up being scrumptious. All you need is a good sauce and a tasty flat bread recipe. The recipe of the flat bread remains the same for all the wraps and it’s as follows.

Ingredients:

Whole wheat flour: 2 cups
Refined flour: 1 cup
Salt: to taste
Baking powder: 1 tsp
Olive oil: 2 tsp
Water: to knead

Method:

Combine the above ingredients and set it aside for 10 minutes. Once the dough is set, divide it into equal 2 inch balls and then roll it with the help of rolling pin. The resultant flat bread should be not too thin or thick. Place it on a heated non stick pan and flip both sides on medium flame till it’s cooked well. Remove from flame and make other flat breads in same manner.

Vegetable Mayo Wrap:

Vegetable Mayo Wrap

Preparation Time: 30 Minutes
Cooking Time: 10 Minutes
Serves: 4

Ingredients:

Potatoes: 2 small
Onions: 2 small
Tomatoes: 2 small
Baby corn: 6 nos.
Capsicum 2 small
Carrot: 1 small
Mayonnaise: 4 tbsp
Oregano: 1 tbsp
Chilli flakes: 1 tbsp
Butter: 1 tbsp
Salt: to taste
Tomato ketchup: 1 tbsp
Wrap flat bread: 4 nos.

Method:

Step 1:

Cut the peeled potatoes, onions, capsicum, tomatoes, carrot and baby corn in long sticks. From these, take potatoes, carrot and baby corn and blanch them in water infused with a pinch of salt. Once they are cooked, remove from water and drain in a colander.

Step 2:

Take all the vegetables in a large bowl and add mayonnaise to it. Add the oregano and chilli flakes to it. Add salt and mix all the ingredients well so that the vegetables get coated evenly. Microwave this mixture for 2 minutes.

Step 3:

Now, Take the flat bread and put it on a pan to re-heat it. Lower the flame of the pan and put butter on the top part of flat bread. Then place the vegetables on the center of the flatbread in a line, covering the diameter. Drizzle the tomato ketchup on top of the mixture.Take the edges and wrap the mixture. Press the edges with a flat spoon and remove from flame. Serve hot.

Spicy Chickpeas Wrap:

Spicy Chickpeas Wrap

Preparation Time: 90 Minutes (Including Chickpeas Soaking Time)
Cooking Time: 10 Minutes
Serves: 4

Ingredients:

Chickpeas: 1 cup
Ginger garlic paste: 1 tsp
Tomato ketchup: 2 tbsp
Green chillies: 2 small
Salt: to taste
Olive oil: 1 tsp
Butter: 1 tbsp
Wrap flat bread: 4

Method:

Step 1:

Rinse the chickpeas and soak them in warm water for around 40 minutes. When they have bloomed a bit, pressure cook them till they are fully cooked. Drain the chickpeas and remove the skins.

Step 2:

Take a non stick cooking bowl and add olive oil to it. Add ginger garlic paste and let it get stirred till the smell of the garlic goes away. Now add the green chillies and tomato ketchup and cook for a minute. Add the cooked chickpeas into the mixture along with the salt and mix it well. Remove from flame.

Step 3:

Now, Take the flat bread and put it on a pan to re-heat it. Lower the flame of the pan and put butter on the top part of flat bread.  Then place the chickpeas on the center of the flatbread in a line, covering the diameter. Take the edges and wrap the mixture. Press the edges with a flat spoon and remove from flame. Serve hot.

Chinese Chicken Wrap:

Preparation Time: 20
Cooking Time: 10 Minutes
Serves: 4

Ingredients:

Boneless chicken nuggets: 2 cups
Spring onion : 2 small
Ginger garlic paste: 2 tsp
Dark soy sauce: 2 tsp
Red chilli sauce: 1 tsp
Sugar:  2 tsp
Salt: to taste
Olive oil: 2 tsp
Butter: 1 tbsp
Wrap flat bread: 4 nos.

Method:

Step 1:

Clean the chicken well. Set aside. Chop the onion in small dices with the leaves

Step 2:

Now, take a non stick cooking pan and add olive oil to it and put it on a medium flame. Add ginger garlic paste to it and let it get stirred till the smell of garlic goes away. Add the onions and cook it till it gets caramalised. Add the chicken and stir it well. Let the chicken get cooked medium to well. Then add dark soy sauce, red chilli sauce, sugar, salt and cook for 5 minutes in low flame.
