Method Of Preparation:
The first step of baking is always to pre-heat the oven. For this recipe, you need to pre-heat it to about 180 degree Celsius. Take a baking tray and line it with parchment paper. Generously grease it with butter. However, if you are using a silicon mold, there is no need for greasing, the brownies can be removed simply by turning the mold upside down. These are non-sticky molds and are excellent baking tools.
Remove the juice of an orange. Also, scrape the orange zest gently from one big orange. Be careful not to rub hard as it increases chances of turning the zest bitter.
Add vanilla extract, a pinch of salt and all the eggs to the orange and zest mixture. Whisk for sometime until it blends well.
To make the brownies you have to prepare a chocolate sauce. Heat water in a saucepan and place a bowl over it. Cut the chocolate into small pieces and place it in the bowl along with butter and caster sugar. Let the butter, chocolate and sugar melt with the heat. Stir continuously to make a lump free and smooth mixture. Remove the bowl and let it cool down.
It is now time to mix the orange mixture with the chocolate. Pour the orange juice and eggs into the chocolate when it has cooled down. Whisk well to incorporate all the ingredients.
In a large bowl sift together the flour along with baking powder and cocoa powder. Mix the dry ingredients properly. Slowly, fold the dry mix into the wet mix that was prepared earlier. With gentle hands, fold the flour mix, adding a small quantity at a time. Remember not to lose the aeration created with the whisking.
Mix in chocolate chips in the brownie batter and again fold gently. Make sure that the chips are spread out evenly. Pour this batter into the prepared baking dish and bake it for 30 minutes if you want soft and fudgy chocolate brownies. However, if you like slightly harder, cakey brownies, let it sit in the oven for 5 more minutes.
Once ready, let it cool completely before cutting it into squares. Sprinkle some cake decoration on top or top it with orange zest for awesome looking chocolate orange brownies.
