Mexican Halibut Veracruz Recipe

Do you love fish? If you are a fish lover, you might have heard about the famous halibut fish. It is filled with goodness and it is really tasty. It is a flatfish which is found in very few regions. Halibut can be cooked in various ways. We love it when a fish is baked. The goodness of fish and the ingredients gets trapped when we bake it. You can make a salad out of it. You can bake it and serve it with peas and mash potatoes. There are so many ways to treat the halibut.

However our plan is to introduce you to a creative new dish called Halibut Vercruz. A nice fillet of halibut sits on top of a Mexican sauce. That is Halibut Veracruz for you! So, let us take a look at the recipe. You will love it!

Here Is The Recipe For Halibut Veracruz:

Mexican Halibut Veracruz

Preparation Time : 25 Minutes
Cooking Time : 30 Minutes
Serves : 4

Ingredients :

Vegetable oil – 3 tbsp
Yellow onion – 1 cup sliced
Garlic cloves – 3 (sliced)
Tomato – 2 cups (diced)
1 Jalapeno – diced
Dry white wine – 1 cup
Butter – 2 tbsp
Halibut fillets – 4 fillets
Kosher salt – 1 tsp
Spanish olives – 1/2 cup
Olive juice – 2 tbsp
Avocados – 2 (sliced)
Fresh lime juice – 2 tbsp
Chopped Cilantro leaves – 2 tbsp


Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees f.

Step 2

Take a skillet and heat oil in it over medium heat. Once it gets hot, add garlic and onion. Now cook till it gets lightly colored. It should take 3 minutes. Add the jalapeno, tomato and white wine. Cook till the wine gets reduce. It should take 5 minutes.

Step 3

When the sauce gets reduce to 2/3, heat butter in another skillet. Season your halibut fish fillet with kosher salt. Once the butter gets melted, place the halibut on it. Cook for 2 minutes on one side. Now flip over and do the same on the other side.

Step 4

Transfer the fish to a pan and keep it in the preheated oven. Bake for 10 minutes.

Step 5

Now remove the wine sauce from the heat once it is reduced and stir the olive juice and olives in it. Stir and pour the sauce in 4 serving plates. Place the cooked halibut in the center and on top of the sauce. Now to decorate it you need to place the avocado slices on top of the halibut fish. Sprinkle some cilantro and lime juice and serve hot.
