Recipe For The Delicious Red Bean Porridge At Home

Delicious Red Bean Porridge

Preparation Time- 15 Minutes
Cooking Time- 2 Hours
Serves- 3


Dried azuki beans- 1 cup
Glutinous rice flour- 2 cups plus 1 tablespoon
Boiling water- 1 cup
Salt- 2 tablespoon
Sugar- 3 tablespoon
Water- 4 cup

Method Of Preparations:

Step 1

Firstly, take a 1 cup dried red beans in strainer and wash it properly and the take a pot put in on heat and pour 10 cups of water into it then add red beans into it and boil it over a medium heat for 40 minutes. Now turn down the heat to low and boil it for another 2 hours until the beans are soft and mashed. Put it aside and cool it for 30 minutes.

Step 2

Further we have to strain this take a wire strainer and put it over a large bowl then pour cooked red bean into the strainer, mash the red beans with help of spoon except the skin the beans go through the strainer into the bowl by using hand squeeze the red bean skin and take it out from the strainer so that we get clear soup.

Step 3

Take a large pot and put the 8 cup beans mixture into it if less than add water into it. Now we have to make rice cake ball for this take a mixing bowl and add 2 cups of glutinous rice flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1 tablespoon sugar and 1 cup hot boil water into it and by using spoon just mix it properly then when temperature goes down mix it by hand to make soft dough then put the dough in a plastic bag. Let it sit for 30 minutes.

Step 4

After couple of minutes knead the dough again until it become soft and smooth if dough sticky add some glutinous rice flour. Now sprinkle some flour over the plate and divide the dough in 60 pieces and take one piece of dough in a palm and roll it to make 1/2 inches rice ball and repeat this process to make other rice cake balls one by one.

Step 5

Now bring a red bean mixture to boil over medium heat and stir it then put the rice cake balls into the bean mixture and stir it well. Cover the pot with lid and cook it for around 10 minutes until the rice cake ball float on the top of red bean porridge.

Step 6

Take a mixing bowl and add 1 tablespoon of glutinous rice flour and 2 cup water into it and mix it well then pour this mixture into the porridge until the porridge become thick then add two tablespoon salt and add some sugar to taste so that the porridge become sweet and salty in taste stir it well. Now take the butter slice and then add this in the porridge and then garnish it with the coriander leaves. Serve it hot in plates and keep the left porridge into the fridge up to 4 days.
