1 small ginger
2 cloves of garlic
1 cinnamon I inch long
2 green cardamom
1 tablespoon red Mexican chili powder
2 red and ripe tomatoes
fresh cream and salt
Methods Of Preparation:
The first and foremost thing is to dress the crab properly. Unless you dress it or de-vein it well, it may cause stomach upset. For this reason, either buy dressed crab from market or de-vein and dress it of your own at home. Separate crab’s body and its claws. After that, wash them very well with plenty of water repeated times. Then, strain water, pat them dry in a container. Sprinkle some salt and pinch of red chili powder over them. Mix well. Keep them apart.
Peel potato and cut them to two equal pieces. Prick them with a fork. Boil them into salty water till the potatoes get medium soft. Remove them from water and keep them aside.
Grind onion, ginger and garlic to paste.
Roast cinnamon, cardamom and clove lightly and grind them to fine powder.
Chop ripe tomatoes finely. It will serve to thicken the gravy. Eliminate seeds because tomato seeds are bad for health especially for those people who are suffering from uric acid.
In a pan add oil and heat it first. Now add crab body and claws. Fry them well. Crab shell turns to a beautiful red color as soon as they come in contact of heat. After that, remove them from pan and keep them apart. Now add little amount of butter oil in the pan and mix it with remaining oil previously where you have fried crabs. Now add spice paste. Stir continuously to fry the paste well. When frying is completed add tomato and sprinkle some salt over them. Salt helps to melt the tomato.
Add Mexican red chili powder over them to bring hot taste. Keep the lid on of the container till the tomatoes are totally melted away. Just open the lid and add some water. Add the crab pieces and potatoes. Add salt to taste. Cover the container with the lid and cook it till the gravy gets thickened and crabs and potatoes are well soft. Then sprinkle the grinded spice powder over them. Remove them from oven and pour fresh cream over them. Serve this spicy crab gravy with steamed rice. You will enjoy it.
