Here Is The Recipe For Greek Chicken Souvlaki With Tzatziki Sauce:
Preparation Time: 15 Minutes
Cooking Time: 15 Minutes
Olive oil – 1/4 cup
Lemon juice – 2 tbsp
Minced garlic clove – 2
Dried oregano – 1 tsp
Salt – 1/2 tsp
Chicken breast halves (boneless and skinless) – 1 1/2 pound
For The Sauce
Greek style yogurt – 1 container (plain)
Grated and peeled cucumber – 1/2
Olive oil – 1 tbsp
White vinegar – 2 tsp
Minced garlic clove – 1
Salt – 1 pinch
Wooden skewers – 6
Method Of Preparation:
Combine the olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, salt and oregano and in a resealable bag. The bag should be large enough to hold the chicken too. Now add the chicken to this marinade in the resealable bag. You need to remember to cut the chicken into bite size pieces. You do not need to cook the half breast chicken. Chop it into bite size small pieces. Make sure the chicken gets coated with the marinade. Squeeze out any excess air. Now seal the bag. Let it marinate in your refrigerator for about 2 hours.
Now comes the time to make the yummy tzatziki sauce. Mix the cucumber, yogurt, olive oil, garlic, vinegar and the salt in a medium bowl. Refrigerate it for about 3 hours for the flavors to come together.
Now preheat the outdoor grill on medium heat. Oil the grate lightly. Now soak the wooden skewers in water bowl for about 15-20 minutes. Remove the chicken from the marinade and just use a thread to fix the chicken on the soaked skewers. Discard the unused leftover marinade. You do not need it anymore.
Cook the chicken skewers on the grill which you had preheated. Turn it frequently. Cook till it gets brown and nicely cooked. It should no longer be pink from the center. Cook for 7 minutes per side. You can cook it for more time if need be. Check if it is cooked with a fork. The center should not be pink. Once it is done, serve it with the tzatziki sauce. Your dish is ready! Enjoy it with a drink.
