Here Is The Recipe To Cook Slow Cooker Beef Pot Roast At Home:
Preparation time – 20 minute
cooking time – 6 hour and 30 minute
Total time required to prepare the recipe – 6 hour and 50 minute
Serving – 4
Level – medium
Bone-in beef pot roast – 1
Salt and pepper – for taste
Sliced mushrooms – 8 pounces
Vegetab el oil – 2 teaspon
All purspose flour – 1 teaspoon
Minced clove of garlic – 22
Chopped medium onion – 1
Butter – 1 teaspoon
All purpose flour – 1 ½ teaspoon
Chicken broth – 2 ½ cups
Tomato paste – 1 teaspoon
Fresh thyme – 2 sprigs
Fresh rosemary – 2 sprigs
Celery stalks, cut into chunks – 2
Medium carrot, cut into chunks – 3
In the first step, you have to show great care as it involves seasoning all the sides of the roast, use pepper and salt for this purpose. Once seasoned carefully, sprinkle flour all over the top of the seasoned roast. Do it till well coated. Next, pat the roast into the meat. In case, there is applied excess of flour, shake it off.
Take a large skillet and place on medium to high setting. Add some vegetable oil in the skillet and wait till the oil is heated properly. Next, add seasoned roast and cook from its side till it turns brown in color. You might need to do this for 5-6 minute. Finally remove from the skillet and place aside.
Now adjust the setting once again from high to medium and add butter followed by mushroom into the skillet. Cook the mushroom for 3 to 4 minutes.
Add onions and cook again for 5 minute. Make sure that the onion becomes translucent and also brown in color. Add garlic after onion and cook stirringly for one to two minute.
Now add about 1 ½ teaspoon of flour to the mixture and cook stirringly for one more minute. Add tomato paste next and cook again for some time. make sure that you stir so well that all the ingredients are mixed together properly.
Now add the chicken broth slowly to the mixture into the skillet and stir well to combine properly. Reduce the setting so as to allow it to simmer. When everything is done, remove the skillet from the heat.
Take the slow cooker now and put celery and carrot to it. now keep the roast that you prepared into the first step on top of the vegetables added to the slow cooker and also pour if there is any juice from the roast. Next add rosemary and thyme to the mixture.
Now pour the onion and mushroom mixture that you had prepared into the skillet to the slow cooker. Cover the cooker with its lid and turn the setting to high. Allow the meat to cook for the next 5 to 6 hour. The final texture of the meat should be tender that it can be cut using a fork.
When the meat is done, remove from the heat and skim off any fat if accumulated on the surface and also remove the bones. Finally season the meat once more with salt and pepper and serve.
