You may have burgers in all regions of the world, but the method of cooking differs accordingly. This one is entirely different. It comprises of beef, cheese and several other ingredients. Almost all the ingredients are grilled and then placed inside the burger. One very important ingredient is the muffins.

thinly slices medium red onion – 1
Nonstick grilling cooking spray or canola oil- for oiling the grates
Ketchup – 2 teaspoon
Freshly ground black pepper or kosher salt – as per the taste
Split whole wheat English muffin – 4
Yellow mustard – 2 teaspoon
Lean ground beef – 1 pound or 90 %
Medium ripe tomato that is cored and cut into 4-5 thick slices – 1
Pickles – for serving
Grated and reduces cheddar – 2 ounces

For preparing this recipe, you need to heat the grill directly. Very carefully, oil the grates. If you are scared of oiling the hot grate, you can use the cooking spray for this purpose or you can use a paper towel that is already soaked in canola oil to oil it lightly.
You need a cutting board for this step. Place the cutting board and spread a 16 inch long piece of the aluminum foil on top of it. It should be nonstick aluminum foil. If it is not, then you can spray some oil on top of it. Now when the aluminum foil work is done, spread onions on top of it. Put ¼ teaspoon of salt and pepper and about 1 teaspoon of water on this. Now very carefully, lift one side of the foil and then next, the purpose is to bring either side of the foil paper up. Fold these sides together to seal each and then you can seal the remaining sides together.
Now you need to do some grilling. For this, place on the grill and cook for about 12-15 minutes. Flip not more than once. Do check for the onions that should be tender with slight charring. Very carefully, open the top of the foil. This is to let all the steam out. When done, continue cooking the onions, while tossing at some interval. The motive is to let the onion turn brown and slightly charred. When it does, toss for 3 minutes more. Finally, it is time to remove it from the grill.
In the meantime the onions cook, you can prepare the other ingredients. For this, you need a small bowl first. Into this bowl, put mustard and the ketchup together. With the help of a spoon, mix the two ingredients. Sprinkle some salt and pepper on top.
Place the English muffins on the grill and toast it lightly. On each of the four plate, place one muffin at the top and one at the bottom. At the bottom half of each muffin, sprinkle some sauce and place a tomato on top of each.
Now very carefully, you have to divide the beef into 4 pieces. Each should be 1/2 inch thick and 4 inch in diameter. Sprinkle about ½ teaspoon of salt and ¼ teaspoon of pepper on each piece. Now you have to grill the burger. Let the burgers cook until they turn brown from each side. This might take about some 4-5 minutes. If it takes less time, then do not overcook the burgers. Flip once each side is cooked properly.
Now you need to put the rest of the ketchup on the burgers and top each with the shredded cheese. Cover each burger with the help of a large heatproof bowl or a grill lid. Continue cooking until the cheese has melt but the burgers is still slightly pink on the inside. You might need to cook it for 3 minutes more.
Here comes the final step. On top of the already prepared muffin, place one burger and then top further with the grilled onion and some muffins. Do serve each with pickles.
