Red Velvet Brownie With Flavored Yogurt Frosting

Red velvet cheesecake is a well known dessert. It has the best combination of sweet and tangy. It’s a lovely looking dessert that grabs eyeballs every time you look at it. Another variation to it is a pleasant colored red velvet brownie with a yogurt filling. This is a good option when you run out of cream cheese but yet you crave for a tangy taste to cut the sweetness of the dessert. It’s a perfect dessert for summery evenings and toasty nights. This is best served with a vanilla ice cream on the side.

Red Velvet Brownie

Preparation Time: 30 Minutes
Cooking Time: 15 Minutes
Serves: 24


Refined flour: 2 cups
Castor Sugar: 2 cups
Eggs: 4
Butter:  1 cup
Cocoa powder: half cup
Vanilla essence: 1 tsp
Dark red color essence:  1 tsp
For the frosting
Flavored Greek yogurt: 1 cup
Whipping cream: 1 cup
Icing sugar: half cup


Step 1:

Pre-heat the oven according to your oven capacity.

Step 2:

Take a large bowl and blend in the sugar and butter till it’s of creamy consistency. Now add eggs to the mixture and blend till the mixture is frothy. Add the vanilla essence and the red color essence and blend it more.

Step 3:

Now take refined flour and add cocoa powder to it. There is no need to sift it as brownies are generally little dense in nature. Baking powder too is not needed for the same reason. Now add this flour mix to the egg mix little by little and blend it. The resultant mix will be a dense batter.

Step 4:

Take a baking tray and line it with a bit of butter. Pour the mix to the tray and spread it evenly.

Step 5:

Place this tray in a preheated oven and bake it for 15 minutes at 160 degrees. Each oven is different. So, keep on checking the brownie with a toothpick. Since the batter is dense, it will feel it’s not cooked but if the toothpick comes out clean, remove from the oven and cool it on a rack.

Step 6:

For the frosting: Take the whipped cream and blend it till you achieve soft peaks. Take the flavored yogurt and add icing sugar to it. Mix it well. Add this mix to the whipped cream and blend it more till you achieve semi stiff peaks. For better results, refrigerate all these items, including the blender whisks before starting. Spread this frosting on and around the brownie and let it set. Cut into pieces and serve.
