But in Italy a wide variety of sausages are available. sweet sausage and hot sausage are most common. This is a very simple and delicious dish which is easy to make. 6 (4 ounce) links sweet Italian sausage
1 yellow onion, sliced
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 red onion, sliced
1 large red bell pepper, sliced
1 green bell pepper, sliced
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 cup white wine
1 teaspoon dried oregano
Take a large skillet or pan and heat it to medium flame. Place the sausage in the large skillet. Here we have used sweet sausage. If you want you can use hot sausage. You should be careful while cooking sausage. If using immediately cook in a medium flame. Turn it every 2 -3 minutes. Cook until it turns brown on all sides. Make sure the Sausage reaches an internal temperature of 150 to 156 degrees F. Remove the sausage from the skillet and slice it.
How To Cook Sausage In Oven:
Preheat the oven to 190°C, place the sausage in the baking tray. Cook for 20 – 25 minutes. Turn it halfway till thoroughly cooked on both the sides.
Place the skillet and heat it in medium flame. Add butter, when butter melts add red onion, yellow onion and garlic. Stir it well. Let it cook for 2 -3 minutes. Mix green bell pepper and red bell pepper Season it with oregano and basil, stir consistently. Now add white wine. Cook until onions and peppers become tender.
Now all the vegetables are cooked well in the pan, add the slices of sausage in the pan. Reduce the heat to low and cover it with a tight lid. Cook in simmer for another 15 minutes. If you need, you can add more white wine in this stage. Cook until the sausage is thoroughly hot.
