Brown Breakfast Casserole Recipe

Servings : 6
Preparation Time : 10 minutes
Cooking Time : 45 minutes

Ingredients Required:

1 cup of cooked sausage, crumbled
1 cus of full fat milk
4 to 6 patties of hash brown
2 teaspoons of chicken bullion paste
4 large eggs
1 tablespoon of diced yellow onion
2 tablespoons of flour
1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
1 teaspoon of Cajun seasoning mix
1/2 teaspoon of thyme
2 slices of cooked bacon, chopped
1 cup of water
1/2 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper
1 tablespoon of butter
1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt

Preparation Procedure:

Step 1

First prepare the condensed cream of chicken soup. For that, melt the butter in a pan over low heat and then add the flour to it. Whisk the mixture for 1 minute or until the flour is consumed into the butter and the floury flavor gets cooked out. Once done, add water to the mixture and whisk continuously to avoid getting lumps.

Step 2

Simmer the mixture until it turns thick and then stir in the milk. To that, add the chicken bullion paste, thyme and the seasonings. Cook the sauce for a few minutes and adjust the seasonings if needed.

Step 3

Once ready, grease your slow cooker with cooking spray and then layer the hash brown, onion, smoked sausage, eggs and the grated cheddar cheese in it. Then pour the prepared condensed cream of chicken soup over the sausage mixture. Once everything is added, cover the crockpot with its lid. Cook the casserole for 3 hours on high or until the hash browns are thoroughly cooked and the sausages are heated.
