The Easiest Way To Make A Sizzling Mushroom Steak Kebab

For anyone who loves their steak, a kebab is the first food that comes to their mind through which they can savour the many layers of their steak. However, an average kebab needs two different skewers to cook both the meat and the vegetables separately as the vegetables take longer time to roast than the kebab. This is why to lessen your time it is recommended to replace those vegetables with mushrooms. Thread that with potatoes and you have your juicy mushroom steak kebabs as your perfect dinner companion.

Preparation Time: 30 Minutes
Cooking Time: 10 Minutes
Serves: 4

Potatoes, Mushrooms and Steak are the three main categories and though some of the ingredients may be similar, they will be added separately to each of them. Hence, the spices must be divided according to these three classified components.

Steak of either of these varieties – ribeye
sirloin – 1 – 1 1/2 lbs
cut into 1 1/2″- 2″ pieces
Soy sauce- 1 tablespoon
Balsamic vinegar – 1/2 table spoon
Red wine – 1 tablespoon
Worcestershire sauce – 1/4 tablespoon
Garlic cloves – 2 minced
Olive oil – 2 tablespoons
Salt, ground black pepper, to taste

Baby potatoes – 1 1/4 – 1 1/2 lbs
Olive oil – 2-3 Tablespoons
Garlic cloves – 1-2  minced
Fresh thyme – 1/2 Tablespoon, minced
Fresh parsley- 1/2 Tablespoon, minced
Dry herbs- 1/2 Tablespoons  optional
Salt, ground black pepper, to taste

Fresh Bella mushrooms – 10
Olive oil – 3 table spoons
Balsamic vinegar – 1/2 tablespoon
Garlic cloves – 1 or 2 minced
Fresh thyme – 1 tablespoon, minced
Salt, ground black pepper – To taste

Method Of Preparation:

Step 1:

You have to first marinate the steak. Marinate means to let the cut pieces of steak soak in a bowl of semi-liquid spices. Hence, thoroughly blend all the ingridients required for the steak in a bowl and marinate the steak for about 30 minutes. To save time, you can cook the potatoes and take care of the mushrooms while the steak is marinating. Or you  can marinate the steak a day before, store it in the refrigrator and bring it out in the open just 30 minutes before you want your kebabs ready.

Step 2:

While boiling the potatoes, you must ensure that they are soft enough to be pierced with a knife but still firm nonetheless and can hold their shape. Thus, placing the potatoes in hot water for just 5 minutes is enough. As again with the steak, combine all the ingredients of the potato in a mixing bowl and coat the steaming potatoes well so that they smell of all the finest seasoning.

Step 3:

It is recommended that you keep the mushrooms whole but if your mushrooms are very huge then just cut them into half. Unlike potatoes and steak that could be prepared a day in advance, mushrooms must be freshly spiced up so that they do not end up tasting soggy.

Step 4:

Now it is time to thread the steak, mushrooms and potatoes onto the skewers. You can use your discretion and decide how many pieces of each you would want to thread onto one skewer.

Step 5:

Just like a microwave oven, grills need to be preheated so that they can perform efficiently. The grill must be preheated for 15 minutes and must be cleaned with a tissue paper soaked in oil. The kebabs then are cooked on each side for 6-8 minutes. After which they must be garnished with coriander leaves and served on the platter alongside a salad to make way for a hearty dinner.
