We love Asian cuisine! What is so special about it? Most of the Asian dishes are healthy which makes it such a desirable option. We love the basic usage of protein and very little ingredients to make a beautiful dish. Today we have a wonderful dish to share with you. Yes, it is Asian and it is simply delicious. It is called Asian Shrimp Dumplings. Wow! That sounds really good, right? The recipe is super simple. If you follow the steps, you will get there. Just take a quick look at the recipe and make it at home. Are you ready? We have also added a very simple Honey and Kimchi Sauce recipe along with it.
Here Is The Recipe For Asian Shrimp Dumpling With Honey And Kimchi Sauce:
Preparation Time: 30 Minutes
Cooking Time: 10 Minutes
Wheat flour – 200 grams
Potato starch – 40 grams
Oil – 2 tbsp
For The Filling
Raw shrimps – 400 grams
Bamboo shoot – 50 grams
Cornstarch – 1 tbsp
Rice wine – 1 tbsp
Sesame oil – 2 tsp
A pinch of salt
Pinch of sugar
For Honey And Kimchi Sauce
Unsalted butter – 6 tbsp
Kimchi Paste – 9 tbsp
Honey – 1 tbsp
Toasted sesame seeds – 1 1/2 tsp
Method Of Preparation:
Firstly you can prepare the honey and kimchi sauce. It is super easy. Just take a saucepan and melt the butter in it. Add the toasted sesame seeds, kimchi paste and honey in it. Cook for just about 6-10 minutes on low heat. Your sauce is done and ready to serve. You can keep this aside. We will serve it later with the shrimp dumplings. You can make this sauce while your dumplings are steaming. However we advice you to make it at the beginning. This is a must have sauce with the shrimp dumpling.
Now take a bowl and place the flour in it. Now add some boiling water in it and stir it using a wooden spatula. When you see the batter getting smooth and sticking to the spatula, you will know that it is ready. Do not add more water to this.
Now this on your work surface and slowly add the potato starch. Knead it till you get a smooth dough. You want a nice smooth dough for making your dumplings. Knead properly.
Now roll this smooth dough into a firm ball and add some oil to it. Knead again. The dough should turn shiny and it should feel silky to touch. Once your dough is ready, you need to wrap it using a cling film. Now keep it aside. It should be on room temperature. Do not store this dough because then it will be very hard to work with if you keep it for too long. If you want to make the dumplings the same day, make it that day itself.
Now you need to make the stuffing. You just need to soak the bamboo shoots in boiling water for a minute. Rinse it in cold water after that. Set it aside. Now in a food processor, just blend the shrimps. Leave half of the shrimps and chop it with a knife. Now chop the cooked bamboo shoots. Mix it with the shrimps in a bowl.
Now you need to prepare dressing. Just combine the sesame oil, salt, rice wine and sugar. Put it in the stuffing. Add cornflour to it and mix it well.
Now take the dough and dive it into 16 equal pieces. Till then, just turn on your stove and boil the water in your steamer. Now take one piece of dough and take a rolling pin to roll it into a circle. It should be a 3 inches circle. Now add the shrimp filling in the center. Fold the dumpling facing upwards. It should look like a closed flower bud.
Once the steamer is ready, steam the shrimp dumplings for about 6 minutes. Make sure you put it on high heat. Serve the shrimp dumplings hot. Your shrimp dumplings are ready! Serve it with honey and kimchi sauce that we made in the beginning. Serve it hot with the sauce!
