Yummy Recipe For Hawaiian Shoyu Chicken

Today we have a very Hawaiian recipe for you. It is actually a Hawaiian dish but it has a Japanese touch to it. Shoyu basically means soy sauce in Japanese language. The chicken  is left in a spicy marinade for long and then grilled. We have a very easy version of the recipe. You can easily make it at home without any fuss. Here Is The Recipe For Hawaiian Shoyu Chicken:


Preparation Time: 30 Minutes
Cooking Time: 1 Hour 30 Minutes
Serves: 12


Soy sauce – 1 cup
Brown sugar – 1 cup
Water – 1 cup
Garlic clove – 4 (minced)
Onion – 1 (chopped)
Fresh ginger – 1 tbsp (grated)
Ground black pepper – 1 tbsp
Dried oregano – 1 tbsp
Crushed red pepper flake – 1 tsp
Cayenne pepper – 1 tsp
Ground paprika – 1 tsp
Chicken thighs without skin – 5 pounds

Method of Preparation:

Step 1

Whisk the soy sauce, water, brown sugar, ginger, onion, garlic, oregano, black pepper, cayenne pepper, red pepper flake and paprika in a bowl. You can use a ceramic bowl to whisk the ingredients. Add the skinless chicken thighs and toss it evenly for coating it. Cover the ceramic bowl with a plastic wrap.

Step 2

Let the chicken marinate for about an hour. The longer you keep it to marinate, you will get better results. The marinade soaks deep in the chicken flesh which makes it taste even better!

Step 3

Preheat the outdoor grill on high heat. Oil the grates and get it ready for grilling the chicken.

Step 4

Now remove the marinated chicken thighs from the chilly marinade. Discard the marinade and grill the prepared chicken on the grill till it gets cooked through. It should get 30 minutes to cook from both the sides.

Step 5

Your Shoyu Chicken is ready to serve! Serve it hot with noodles or eat it as a starter.
